What does a neuropsychiatrist do?

Neuropsychiatrists are specialists that combine neurology, psychiatry, and neuropsychology to treat their patients. These specialists focus on how the brain influences behavior. A neuropsychiatrist will consider brain function when assessing, diagnosing, and creating treatment plans.

Treatment by a neuropsychiatrist will include:

  • Disease prevention
  • Early detection of neuropsychiatric disorders
  • Assessment and determination of the origin of the neuropsychiatric problem
  • Treatment of conditions using a multidisciplinary approach
